Summer is finally here in Seoul and that means long days and warm nights to enjoy! There is nothing better than a lazy summer day spent enjoying the company of friends at a cafe, and we have 10 great options for you that come with a view! Here are some of the best rooftops in Seoul to sip back, relax, and enjoy summer!
Myeongdong: Style Nanda Pink Pool Cafe
Of course this cafe had to be on the top of our list for summer rooftops! Complete with swimming pool themed interior, a giant pink umbrella, and dozens of pink pillows for you to lounge in, how could you not stop for a drink at Style Nanda’s Pink Pool Cafe? Simply go to the top of Style Nanda’s Myeongdong store and fine a spot in the shade. Or better yet, sit inside in the air conditioning with your ice cream and cotton candy, then pop outside in the summer heat for some photos. The best of both worlds!
Address: Seoul, Jung-gu, Chungmuro 2(i)-ga, Myeongdong 8-gil 37-8
Hours: 11am - 11pm, everyday
Seoul Forest: Matchacha
Prepare to feel extremely zen when you visit Matchacha. Sitting right on the edge of Seoul Forest, this cafe specializes in green tea grown right here in Korea. With homemade desserts like green tea pudding and persimmon and butter rolls, you will want to try everything on the menu. The rooftop looks over the tree tops spanning the entire park until it hits the Han River. Sip on a Matcha Blanc or some green tea apple juice and take in the greenery. Warning, you might forget you’re even in a city! P.S. The rooftop section is still under construction but it's going to be ahhhmazing once it's completed!
Address: 18-11 Seoulsup 2(i)-gil Seoul
Hours: 11am-7pm, everyday
Haebangchon: Orang Orang
If you’re ready for an adventure, Orang Orang is for you! This cafe is very off the beaten path in fact, the old building it's in is mostly abandoned. The cafe takes its coffee very seriously and is famous for its mouth watering tiramisu. The best part though is at the top of two very small, very steep sets of stairs. Make your way up and find yourself right at the foot of Namsan with the tower looming over you! The rooftop is a great place to hang out, take in the view, and feel that you’ve discovered a secret spot in this busy city.
Address: 1-62 Yongsandong 2(i)-ga, Yongsan-gu, Seoul
Hours: 11am-11pm, Sunday 11am - 11pm
Hongdae: Favorite Thing
See the hustle and bustle of Hongdae from above at the cafe and bar Favorite Thing. You can feed your sweet tooth and snack on green tea tiramisu, giant brownies, and a fruity tea, or you can enjoy a glass of wine and cheese plate. Either way, their pillow-filled corners and glass rooftop is perfect rain or shine, night and day! This is still relatively unknown to tourists so come hang with the locals and take in the view.
Address: 9 Dongmak-ro 15-gil Seoul
Hours: 12:30pm - midnight, everyday
This cafe is truly a hidden gem. Located to the south of Hapjeong Station, the cafe’s neighborhood is rarely visited by tourists (so far!) but is loved by local Seoulites. The cafe is a large house with a courtyard garden, lots of tables placed under the shade of huge trees, and a umbrella-filled rooftop with a view of the quiet streets below. Their specialty is soufflé pancakes, and because the cafe is still relatively unknown, you might catch a celebrity there! Olympic skater Kim Yuna has been spotted there more than once!
Address: 376-35 Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul
Hours: 7am - 11pm, everyday
Malcar has everything a good cafe should: great coffee, a cozy atmosphere, and amazing baked goods. You will want to come back here every day for their incredible cinnamon buns! After ordering, check out all three floors to find the perfect seat, but for summer you can’t beat the rooftop! There is a perfect view of Namsan Tower from the top, so grab an iced coffee, any of their amazing buns, and enjoy the view!
Address: 48-10 Hoenamu-ro, Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul
Hours: 1pm - 11pm, closed Mondays
Alver is one of Gangnam’s most beautiful cafes. Situated in the heart of Gangnam, this enormous cafe is surrounded by pine trees, giving you the feeling that you’re completely removed from the city. They have a large patio out front with fire pits and the occasional concert, but their rooftop is my personal favorite. There is something so calming about sipping some coffee and enjoying a dessert while sitting next to the treetops. You can still hear the bustling Gangnam streets below but you’ll feel a world away!
Address: 34 Gangnam-daero 102-gil, Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul
Hours: 11am - 11pm, everyday
Bukchon Hanok Village: Green Mile Coffee
Come and enjoy this cafe fast, because it’s quickly becoming one of the trendiest cafes in the area. With it’s modern styled rooftop and sweeping views of the Hanok Village surrounding it, this is an ideal spot to take a break from exploring the palace or Bukchon. Their fruit teas are perfect for summer and their coffee is serious business! True coffee connoisseurs will be impressed by their brewing set up - it’s state of the art!
Address: 64 Bukchon-ro Jongno-gu Seoul
Hours: 8am-9pm weekdays, Saturday 10am- 9pm, Sunday 10am-7pm
Garosugil: Cafe Mula
Cafe Mula is the perfect place to escape a rainy summer day here in Seoul. The rooftop cafe is designed like a green house so the walls and ceiling are all glass, letting natural light stream in. There is an outdoor section to the rooftop, but when the summer rainy season begins, you can still enjoy the feeling of being on a rooftop without hiding under an umbrella. Watch the rain fall while you cozy up to a creamy dreamy dessert and latte!

Samcheongdong: Cafe Golmoksup (Cafe Alley Forest)
This spot is tucked away in an alley in Samcheongdong, overlooking Gyeongbok Palace. The rooftop has plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas making it the perfect spot to check out the city below.
