Singapore This April: Artbox, Rugby Sevens, and Twiceland
Whether it is an adrenaline-charged sports event or a hipster flea market dishing up fancy gastronomic bites, there is something for everyone this April in Singapore. Look no further as we serve up the recommendations below, and remember to grab your tickets!
Until April 12 | How Loneliness Goes
Have you liked one of those popular pastel-hued images of Singapore on Instagram before? Nguan, the man behind these snapshots, is holding his solo exhibition, which will feature 23 isolation-themed photographs with the same soft pastel shade that first propelled him to fame. First presented at 2015 M1 Singapore Fringe Festival, the exhibition will feature new, unseen photos that resonate with the theme and show you a different side of the modern city. You can find more information here.
April 14-16 and April 21-23 | Artbox Singapore
Renowned pop-up flea market, Artbox Bangkok, is coming to Singapore for the first time, and the hipster haven will feature numerous artisan shops housed in shipping containers. Artbox Singapore will be here for two consecutive weekends, and will host retail booths with international and local vendors, music performances, as well as charity drives. There will be no lack of picturesque spots for your #ootd snapshots at this artsy pop-up! Entrance is free and you can get more information about the flea here.
April 15-16 | HSBC World Rugby Singapore Sevens 2017
Being the only Southeast Asian stop this year, it is Singapore’s second time in hosting the Seven series. More than just a sporting event, the World Rugby Singapore Sevens 2017 is essentially one big carnival. Rugby fans are encouraged to deck themselves in a myriad of colors to support their favorite teams during the two-day games, and numerous pre-game and post-game activities are accessible to Singapore Sevens ticket holders. More information is available here.
April 29 | TWICELAND – The Opening
With the enormous success of their songs such as “Cheer Up” and “TT”, TWICE, the nine-membered South Korea girl group will be visiting Singapore for the first time this April for their TWICELAND – The Opening concert. The group has been sweeping rookie awards and dominating the music charts, and their recent Seoul concert sold out within the hour. The immensely popular group is set to bring the special performances from their Seoul concert to the one-night only show in Singapore! Wait no longer as tickets are selling out fast.
Until June 18 | Collecting Magic: From Stamps To Wands
Rejoice Potterheads! Relive the magical journey at the Singapore Philatelic Museum's Hogwarts-themed exhibition. On display are Harry Potter-themed stamps, postcards, movie memorabilia and collectibles from all over the world. Visitors can also interact with the multimedia displays, which feature moving portraits similar to how photos work in the wizarding world. Also keep an eye out for a replica of the beloved house elf, Dobby, and the ‘scary’ Monster Book of Monsters. Tickets are priced at $8 for adults and $6 for children, or Singaporeans and Permanent Residents can get in for free! Check out the official page for more details.
