Once September in Singapore comes round, the event that’s on everyone’s calendars is the F1 Grand Prix season, but don’t forget to check out these events too!
September 1 | Hari Raya Haji

Every year, millions of Muslims visit Mecca on a pilgrimage called Hajj, which lasts around five days requiring a series of rituals. These rites include circumambulating whereby the worshipper circles the item of worship, a black box-like structure called the Kaaba seven times counterclockwise. It is said that every Muslim with the means to do so is expected to complete the Hajj at least once in their lifetime.
After which, Muslims celebrate the end of the pilgrimage with Hari Raya Haji, a public holiday in Singapore. Celebrated over three days, festivities include sacrificing livestock, which can be observed at mosques like the Sultan Mosque built in 1824.

Few young adults can say that they did not spend their teenage years playing a Dashboard Confessional song, from Vindicated to Screaming Infidelities, on repeat, emo-ing their hearts out pining over a lost love.
Started in 1999, the US-based alt-acoustic rock band will be performing in Singapore for the first time ever, with original founding member and frontman Chris Carrabba ready to melt our hearts with old and new favourites. Tickets start from SGD 118 and are available here.
September 13-24 | West Side Story

Whether you’re watching this critically acclaimed Broadway musical for the first time, or if you’ve got the lyrics to America alongside dance moves memorised, there’s one thing to be sure of: West Side Story is just as culturally relevant as it was when it debuted in 1957.
Only in town from September 13 to September 24, the talented US cast will definitely make you laugh and weep with its depiction of 1950s New York’s societal and gang issues amidst a painful romance between two star-crossed lovers, much like Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Tickets start at SGD 55 and are available here.
September 15-17 | Singapore Grand Prix 2017
Are you ready for three days of excitement, international music stars and a motor race that seeks to thrill and amaze?
